Joy Schechtman, DO, FACR, FACOI, attended the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University, and received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree in 1980. She then served her internship at Grandview Hospital & Medical Center in Dayton, OH (1980-1981). Furthermore, she conducted her residency in internal medicine at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, GA (1981-1983). In addition, Dr. Schechtman completed her fellowship training in rheumatology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH (1983-1985). She received board certification in internal medicine and rheumatology from the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. She remains a professional member of the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Schechtman attained fellowship of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR) as well as fellowship of American College of Osteopathic Internists (FACOI).
